For E401 Students:

  • START EARLY!

  • Start early so if you have problems you can get help.

  • Sit down and review your final copy with someone who knows computers.

  • Ask for help—don’t do it yourself!

  • Become friends with the IT people.

  • Do not wait until the last minute!

  • Get appropriate help in a timely fashion.

  • Do the work in small increments.

  • Use IT a lot!

  • Love your DTP

  • Use pictures! People look at pictures before reading.

  • Don’t use too many artifacts.

  • Don’t stress! Blow off steam and reflect.

  • Use a template, don’t start each page new.

  • Limit the number of artifacts you use.

  • Save your work—all the time!

  • Make a checklist.

  • Make sure everything works together.

  • Make sure its easy to read—no strange fonts or color combinations.

  • If it’s nice, save it thrice. If it’s not nice, save it anyway.

  • Take advantage of resources (like people) that can help you.

  • Spell-check right after you finish a page.

  • Take time to re-check links as you go.

  • Find a partner that knows computers

  • Check links continuously to make sure they work.

  • Save a lot!

  • Split up work over a period of time.

  • Be organized!
